Representatives of the Ministry of Unification of Korea visited the headquarters of the Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw.

The visitors were greeted by Joanna Kumor of the Office of International Cooperation, who presented our structure, goals, and activities, including the flagship project, "Trails of Hope. The Odyssey of Freedom," which encompasses all aspects of the IPN work.

Subsequently, Przemysław Gasztold of the Historical Research Office and Karol Starowicz of the Spokesperson's Office outlined the historical background at the end of World War II, the issue of communist crimes, such as the Augustów Roundup, the imposition of communism in Poland under the pressure of the Soviet Union, and the democratic transformation in late 1980s and early 1990s.

The process of de-communization accompanying the fall of the Soviet-backed regime in 1989 was discussed, with special attention given to the ongoing IPN campaign of eliminating communist symbols, including street names and monuments, from the public space. Also brought up were the issues of creating of a responsible remembrance policy, presentation of heroes of the anti-communist underground to the Polish people, and designing educational projects for the youngest generation.

The representatives of the Ministry of Unification of Korea expressed great interest in the computer games created by the IPN New Technology Division, as well as the offer of the National Education Office. They were impressed by the range and scope f the Institute's activities and the number of undertaken projects and initiatives.
