„Against hope. The story of Łukasz Ciepliński” is the first historical comic book published by the Institute of National Remembrance. It was created in Branch Office of IPN in Rzeszów in cooperation of Branch Office workers with Wojciech Birek (script) and Grzegorz Pudłowski (drawings).

Łukasz Cieplińskim, pseudonyms: “Antek”, “Apk”, “Bogdan”, “Ostrowski”, “Pług”, “Zygmunt”. Born on 26 November 1913 in Kwilcz, officer of Polish Army, commander of company during Polish September Campaign, awarded with the Virtuti Militari. Commander of the Rzeszów District of the ZWZ-AK (Association of Armed Struggle-Home Army) in years 1941-1945. Chief of Staff of Krakow District of “NIE” and Delegature of the Polish Forces at Home in 1945. In years 1945-1946 Commander of the Krakow District of WiN (Freedom and Independence) and soon afterwards the Southern Poland District of WiN. President of WiN in 1947. Arrested on 28 November 1947 in Zabrze, and after hard investigation sentenced to death on 14 October 1950. Murdered on 1 March 1951 in Mokotów Prison in Warsaw.
