Within the framework of nation-wide project “The Sentenced to Death by Military District Courts in 1946-1955” carried out by Public Education Office, the IPN in Katowice issued its results. The list of persons sentenced to death includes exclusively those punished for their attributed or actual political activity.
Introduction provides for basic information on jurisdiction of Military District Court in Katowice, which, apart from the Secret Security Offices in 1946-1955, played an essential role in combating the anticommunist underground movement.
The main body of the publication includes biographical data of people who had been executed and those whose sentence was either pardoned or changed for long imprisonment. Apart from personal data, the publication presents charges of the prosecution, the actual reasons for repressions and names of functionaries, prosecutors and judges taking part in the investigations and legal proceedings.
Additionally, the publication includes photos of archival documents from the court files (e.g. interrogation protocol, indictment, verdict, protocol of execution).
