The Protection of the Soviet Union's Boarder against the Third Reich between Wisznia and Solokija in the Years 1939-1941
The book by Tomasz Bereza and Piotr Chmielowiec from the branch office of the Institute of NationalRemembrance in Rzeszów has been issued in the series of Monographs. It refers tothe section of the Soviet fortifications in the Raworussian area known in thecontemporary times as the Molotov's Line. These fortifications were built in theyears 1940-1941 in order to protect the Soviet boarder against the Third Reich.They were spread over the area of 1300 kilometers from Polag at the Baltic seato Lesko in the Sub-Carpathian region.
The monograph presents the activities of the Soviet security apparatus and theRed Army in the boarder zone stretching from Radymn to Krystynopol in the years1939-1941. The description of the fights to protect these territories during theSoviet-German war has also been included. The verification of some assumptionsconcerning the first days of the war has been provided.
The monograph is supplemented by an annex in which testimonies of the witnesses,tables including civil victims of the war in three districts as well as a listof shelters of the particular resistance points are found. Additionally, anindex of names and an index of geographic places, as well as lists of shortnames, charts, illustrations and photographs have been included.
