The photographic material presented here comes from the archives of the Institute and relates to the funeral of Father Jerzy Popieluszko, the priest kidnapped and brutally murdered by militia functionaries in 1984.
Presently, the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation conducts verification procedures in order to determine the legal responsibility for directorship of the murder by those who were in higher ranks of the Polish Communist Party (PZPR) than the generals Władyslaw Ciastoń and Zenon Płatka accused of committing the murder.
As the authorship of some of the presented photographs had not been documented, all those persons who recognize themselves as their authors are asked to contact us.
