Investigation in the case of mass murders committed against Polish citizens (including soldiers of the Polish Army and the Home Army) in the years 1941-1945 in Ponary near Vilnius by the officials of the Hitler’s police and the co-operating Lithuanian police

An extensive research in the Lithuanian archives allowed to find out documentation which turned out to be interesting also in the context of other investigations. The documentation will make the reconstruction of the names of the people murdered in Ponary possible. The archival materials in German include codified information concerning the selection of victims who were later executed. Breaking of the code was possible due to the co-operation with the Zentralle Stellung in Ludwigsburg. The aim of the investigation is to reconstruct unknown facts and circumstances of the crimes committed against Poles. The accumulated evidence constitutes 30 volumes of records. October 3rd, 2002
