Responsibilities

An eleven-person Council, elected for seven years, acts within the framework of the Institute. The Council is responsible for the following:

• the full incorporation of the documents into the archival resources of the Institute of National Remembrance, and evaluation of their completeness;
• assessment of criteria of preserving the documentation when they are being evaluated, sorted, stored and relinquished;
• assessment of the criteria of document inspection and publication;
• determination of priorities regarding motions filed by particular individuals and by institutional requests, as well as by public authorities and their subjects;
• evaluation of the investigation policies;
• assessment of the research programmes determining the future action plans of the state security agencies, as well as information and education of the society.
