President of the Institute of National Remembrance Professor Leon Kieres hosted in Warsaw the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Siergiei Razov on Septemer 13th, 2001. During the meeting the Russian Ambassador was presented with a list of Soviet sailors from the merchant vessels Husan, Elton, Dniestr and Woges, who were arrested and imprisoned by the Gestapo in the Szczecin harbour on June 22nd, 1941. Their later fate remains unknown.

The Institute of National Remembrance in conjunction with the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration signed an agreement with the Federal Security Office of the Russian Federation and the Ukrainian Security Service as regards meetings of working groups, editing committees and scientific conferences as well as other regular meetings. The representatives of the Office for Preservation and Dissemination of Archival Records in the Institute of National Remembrance have been actively participating in ensuing multilateral meetings, both in Warsaw and in Moscow. The latest event is the visit of the delegation headed by the Director of the Office for Preservation and Dissemination of Archival Records Bernadetta Gronek in Moscow on February 18th-21st, 2002. The Polish delegation took part in the meeting with the representatives of the archival department of the Federal Security Office of the Russian Federation. The meeting's goal was to select documents which are to be included in the common publication Deportations 1939-1940.
