In Macedonia in 2001 there was a possibility to research the documentation of the former security service which was opened and made accessible to the public. To that purpose a law on handling personal files kept by the State Security Service of Macedonia was adopted by the Parliament on July 25th, 2000. However, in 2002 the documentation was transferred to the National Archives.
The President and Vice President of the Institute of National Remembrance met the Macedonian Ambassador Mr. Kosta Stoimenovsky in Warsaw on April 17th, 2002. Both sides exchanged information concerning the process of disclosing documents of the former security apparatus respectively in Poland and Macedonia.
