Underground People of the AK-WiN in South-Western Poland (1945-1948)

Three volumes constituting the publication consist of biographies of more than 500 people engaged in the activities of the centralized conspiracy known as the AK-WiN (AK – Home Army, WiN – Freedom and Independence) which was active in the years 1945-1948 in the territory of South-Western Poland.

This is an attempt to fill in the gap in the historiography of Poland in the twentieth century which had existed for the several dozen years. The elaboration presents the biographies of the “underground people” coming from the post-Home Army independence stream. Facts concerning these people have been so far unknown and hidden in the top secret files of the former security services.

The presented volume has come into being as a result of the research of the newly disclosed documentation coming from various sources. Biographies of 62 people who were active within the conspiracy net of the Wroclaw-East Region as well as the second Western Region Board of the WiN have been described.

The next volumes which are currently being prepared to be published will comprise biographies of people coming from the exterritorial structures of the Lviv and Tarnopol underground as well as the territories of the Upper Silesia.
