The book Labor Camp in
Mysłowice 1945-1946 as well as publication about camp in Świętochłowice-Zgoda
have beed published within the framework of regional research project Labor
Camps in Silesia after WWII carried out by the Public Education Office in
Katowice.
Wacław Dubański depicts functioning of Mysłowice Camp from February 1945 till
the fall of 1946. The author writes about the origin of the camp during
occupation time and about the reasons of imprisonment. Next, the issues of
personnel, discipline and management of the camp are discussed. The following
part shows the number and nationality of the prisoners as well as conditions of
life in the camp with particular attention to repressions and compulsory
employment of prisoners of the camp in mine industry in Silesia. The last part
of the book provides information about the death toll of the prisoners and the
reasons of the death as well as information about burial places of the victims.
In the appendix you will find statistical data regarding employment in Mysłowice
camp, as well as about children, elderly people, and foreigners kept in the
camp.
