Investigation concerning the murder of approximately 300 civil and military inhabitants of Grodno in September 1939 by the officials of the Soviet state. 83 witnesses have been interrogated in this case so far
In the course of the
investigation a stream of events was reconstructed and probable crime
perpetrators were established. The victims were both Polish students (20) and
soldiers (30) as well as an unknown number of civilians. Poles were judged by
the Soviet justice organs for their participation in the defense of the city.
They were reproached with the participation in the armed resistance movement
against the Red Army and sentenced. Copies of indictments from the Grodno
archives directed against several people charged with the defense of the city
against the Red Army were received. The process of confirming the names of the
victims is under way.
