Information on the Meeting of the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Mr. Janusz Kurtyka, with the Representatives of the American Embassy

On 18 January 2006 Mr. Janusz Kurtyka met in his Office in the IPN headquarters the Representatives of the American Embassy in Warsaw, Ms. Mary Curtin and Mr. David Van Cleve.
The Guests congratulated Mr. Kurtyka on his recent achievement, i.e. having been appointed a new President of the IPN. Then they asked about Mr. President’s point of view concerning amendments prepared by the Law and Justice party to a Bill on the IPN. They also were interested in Mr. Kurtyka’s opinion upon lustration process, that the IPN may potentially be in charge of. Another matter mentioned during the meeting was the role of the IPN in the field of education of young generation, especially focused on improving relations between Poland and the Jewish Community in the world.
President Janusz Kurtyka said his thanks for the visit and congratulations. At the same time Mr. Kurtyka invited Ms. Curtin and Mr. Van Cleve to attend the events organized by the IPN.
The meeting ended with mutual declaration of a wish for further cooperation in such fields as research and education.
