The rebelious city. The december of 1970 & January of 71 in the city of Szczecin, by Małgorzata Machałek and Paweł Miedziński

The following album consists of 445 photographs, taken by the employees of the Security Service, the photographers of the “Kurier Szczeciński” and “Głos Szczeciński”, as well as private persons. Many of the photographs are being uncovered for the wider audience for the very first time. Such are some of the amazing pictures by Macej Jasiecki or Zbigniew Wróblewski. The authors – Małgorzata Machałek, Ph. D., and Paweł Miedziński, guarantee to the reader in the foreword of the publication: „We hale placed only the most interesting photos, to which we were able to gain access to. For the very first time we were able to show photos like: the protestors blocking the docks from the waterfront, the officers of the Security Service watching over the situation from inside the command building, with their weapons ready to fire, and the tanks awaiting by the railway station”.
“The rebellious city – December of 1970 & January of 71 in Szczecin” is an album created with the purpose of reinforcing of the knowledge about these important events from our past and remind us what an important and dignified role has the city of Szczecin played during these months.
