On 7 April 2017, Deputy President of the IPN, Dr Mateusz Szpytma welcomed Andrzej Nowak, Chairman of the “Pilecki Project”, Zofia Musiał from the same organisation and Ewa Hussain, Member of the Board of the Australian Society of Polish Jews and Their Descendants at the IPN headquarters in Warsaw. The Institute was represented by Heads of particular departments of the IPN.

The guests and hosts focused their discussion on the possibility of organising a joint project regarding the presentation of a mutual exhibition in the Parliament of Canberra in November 2017, devoted to Rittmeister Witold Pilecki. The exhibition will also portray the Warsaw Rising and the participation of Australian Soldiers in the tragic events.

Mr Nowak presented the proposed layout of the exhibition and the associated conference materials: a publication on  Rittmeister Witold Pilecki as well as other brochures on the topic.

The Institute of National Remembrance is going to actively support the initiative, engaging its efforts in the publication of the above-mentioned book and promotional leaflets.

The endeavour is going to be a joint project involving : The  Polish Community Council of Victoria, The Circle of Former Home Army Soldiers in Melbourne, the Managing Board of the “Pilecki Project” and the IPN.

The undertaking is closely linked to the upcoming 70th anniversary of the death of Rittmeister Witold Pilecki.
