In connection with the provisions of Article 19 of the Law amending the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance of 29 April 2016, which entered into force on 16 June 2016, i.e. the provision requiring a review of archival materials which have constituted up to that day a separate, secret collection of documents stored at the Institute – we present a part of the list of documents excluded from the former secret collection in the Archive of the IPN.

The list comprises archival units excluded from the storage rooms of the former classified collection until the end of 2016, including the materials withdrawn pursuant to the procedure in force until 15 June 2016. The materials from the list raised no objections of the functionaries of the services of the Republic of Poland, i.e. they are recognized as open. This means integrating them into the general collection of the IPN.

The list was based on finding aids (inventories hand-over protocols and annexes to them) documenting the procedure of transferring materials from the separate collection to the accessible archival resources of the IPN (general collection). A detailed description of the documents included in the list is going to be published in the Digital Archive application, which is available in every reading room of the IPN.

Next parts of the list of files of the former separate collection of the IPN are going to be published on the website of the Institute within the archival inventory.

The release of the documents included in the list is going to take place in accordance with the provisions specified in the Act of 18 December 1998 on the Institute of National Remembrance - Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes Against the Polish Nation.
