International Conference “Social engineering in Central Europe in the XX century” at IPN’s Educational Center in Warsaw on April 2-4, 2012

Institute of National Remembrance, German Research Foundation, German Historical Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences and PAN Institute of Political Studies would like to cordially invite You to an international scientific conference:

“Social engineering in Central Europe in the XX century”

The conference will take place on April 2-4, 2012 in the IPN’s Educational Center in Warsaw at Marszałkowska street 21/25. The conference will be conducted in Polish and German languages, with simultaneous translation. The main focus of the participantsof the conference is the state of research, current demands, and also the problem of the relationship between science and politics. The theme considerations will first include social engineering until World War II and the analysis of policy towards population by the Third Reich in occupied Poland, including the Master Plan East. The last item on the agenda will be a comparative look at the policy of both totalitarian systems as a starting point for searching for answers about its continuance or lack of such in the postwar period.

The conference constitutes an introduction to the Warsaw opening of the exhibition prepared by the German Research Foundation (DFG) entitled: “Science, planning, expulsion – National Socialist Master Plan East (Generalplan Ost)”.
